Planning Out Affiliate Marketing

No good thing comes free of cost. You have to forego some amount of your resources and put in efforts in order to gain something. To gain success from affiliate programs, you have to necessarily spend money on advertising, registering domain name, setting up a website, etc. With proper planning you can reduce your investments to as low $1,000 for one year or even lesser.
If you assume you’re not going to spend any money at all, then you’re not really going to get too far with that assumption. You have to decide how much money you can afford to invest in your affiliate marketing business. Some items you have to necessarily budget for are:
Domain name
Make sure you get your domain name from a well-established company. There are companies that are expensive as $35 and some offer for way lesser. Shop around and pick up a credible, worthwhile company.
Web hosting
Each company charges differently. Draw up a comparison chart with the rates offered by all companies for Company Name, Price, Disk Space, and Bandwidth. Hosting fees will cost around $7.00 to $25.00 per month or more. Try HostRocket as your web hosting service provider if you are a small business owner.
Merchant account
You may not need a merchant account unless you are selling digital products or products that have to be shipped to a customer. Set up an account with Paypal. It is free and a lot of affiliate managers are using it to pay their affiliates.
Software and scripts
You will need spreadsheet software applications spreadsheet to track your expenses and income from your affiliate business. Depending on how elaborate you want your website to be your need for web scripts vary. To be on the safer side, let’s allocate about $50-150 for this.
Advertising
You will definitely need to keep money aside for pay-per-click search engines and ezine advertising if you want the word to get around. The e-world is indeed a web of people. In order to reach out to them, you have to give them a shout to tell them you exist! This can be achieved only through advertising. An annual budget of $50 per month or $600 would look good. It might seem like a lot, but do work out an advertising strategy. It is an important key to success.
Education
Allow a certain amount for purchasing e-books and how to videos that you can study to constantly work on improving yourself and your skills. You can initially get some free e-books but as you make some money, invest it back on yourself, at least a part of it for this purpose.
So an approximate of $800 is what we are looking at, annually. Nowhere else other than the Internet can you start business under $1000. If you really intend having “real” business, you must treat it as one. A real business has costs that you have to incur. So spend sensibly to make the most out of it.
